Dear Friends and Family,
Once again I will be participating in the Adelaide City Council's Winter Sleepout on Friday 29th May, sleeping out in the cold at the Council's depot on cardboard boxes to get a glimpse of the pain and hardship the homeless endure on a daily basis!
Any small donation you are willing to make to St Vincent de Paul would be greatly appreciated. Click the Donation button on the following page to make a secure online donation. http://acc.gofundraise.com.au/page/AlexSleepout2015
All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a DGR receipt via email as soon as you make a donation.
And just in case you thought I would be returning home to a warm bed in the morning to sleep off a hard night in freezing conditions, I will instead be heading off to Uni for a second day's intensive class of Systems and Operations Management!
Thanks so much for your support!
Best wishes
Alex
St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (Vinnies SA)
Operating since 1884, the Society in South Australia has over 2500 members and volunteers in 64 Conferences, 34 Vinnies Centres and numerous Special Works. They work together, supported by dedicated staff, to relieve not only the immediate requirements of those in need, but to identify the deep and long-term causes leading to financial and social hardship in our community, and provide a voice for the disadvantaged.
Each year the Society assists over 100,000 South Australians. This help is not limited to providing material goods, food and shelter, but extends to providing support, relief from loneliness and encouragement for people to help themselves. Vinnies relies largely on the generosity of donations from the public, and any surplus generated goes directly to supporting the Society’s good works, which provide a range of services to people facing disadvantage.
Our services include;
Conferences - Serving people in need on a one to one basis.
Vinnies Shops - Providing quality pre-loved clothing, household goods and furniture for people in need.
Fred’s Van - Feeding the homeless and hungry.
Vinnies Men's Crisis Centre - Providing emergency accommodation and support to homeless men around the clock every day of the year.
Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre - Providing emergency accommodation and support to women (and their children) in crisis, around the clock every day of the year.
Migrant and Refugee Committee -Welcome and help for new arrivals to South Australia.
Overseas Partnerships and Development - A contribution to world peace and understanding.
Amelie Housing - Housing those in need.
